Hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas at your house this year? Your dining room table will be set, your home will sparkle inside, but don't forget about the outdoors, too! Use these simple tips to create a cozy and inviting outdoor space for guests to mingle during holiday gatherings.
Make sure to have seating with a few small tables to place drinks.
Blow the leaves off your patio or deck, but you can keep the ones in the yard or rake them to your gardening beds. Leaves create a natural mulch and enrich the soil. Leaves also offer beneficial insects, pollinators, and small birds places to shelter in the cold weather.

Add a few colorful pots to your back deck. Here are our recommendations of plants you can use: ornamental grasses, Pansies, ornamental cabbage/kale, evergreens, and Red Twig Dogwood. You can also add seasonal items, such as string lights, pumpkins, ornaments, or bows.
Add ambient lighting. Whether it is a fire pit, hanging string lights, or adding solar-powered spotlights to shine on specific trees or plants, incorporating gentle, warm lighting as the sun sets creates an inviting space.

Be sure to have a few cozy blankets nearby for snuggling up with if it's chilly.
For fun and something for children to play with, have a football, cornhole, etc., available and ready for them to play with.
We invite you to come by the nursery this holiday season! We are happy to suggest more plants perfect for your garden or pots, that will spruce up your backyard before loved ones arrive for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
