Riverbend Nurseries is a family-owned and operated retail garden center and wholesale nursery located just south of Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee. We are open year-round to the public and grow over 1500 varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and vegetables on our 275 acres of land.

Our passion is gardening, and we love nothing more than sharing our love and knowledge of plants with you.

Planning your vegetable garden? You'll want to add several of these pretties!
🌼Marigolds help keep rabbits (we're looking at you, Peter Rabbit!🐰) and deer away from munching on your veggies!
🌼Marigolds also deter aphids, while encouraging beneficial insects, such as ladybugs.🐞
🌼Plant them intermingled with your vegetable plants or line your raised vegetable beds with them.
🌼Cut off spent blooms to encourage frequent blooming. They will last until mid-October!

**Our frost free date is around April 15th! Until then, you may need to bring annuals indoors or cover them if we receive a frost.

I (Rebekah) am so excited to see a bee visiting my Hellebores this afternoon! 🌸 It's important to have several early flowering plants in your garden for pollinators to feed from in late winter/early spring, as they emerge. Early blooms give pollinators a strong start to the season. 🩷🌿

We have one final gardening class happening this month! Led by the talented and knowledgeable Taylor Reeder, our Vegetable Gardening class will be on Saturday, March 28th at 10AM!

This class will last approximately one hour, and Taylor will teach you all you need to know about growing vegetables in Middle Tennessee. DM or call us to register!

Tell ya what's NOT exciting is this cold weather we are having today and tomorrow! 🚨Find out what you may want to cover or bring inside in our last post!

Stay warm and cozy, just like these cute little Begonias growing, friends! 😊🌸🌿

🚨Hard freeze expected Monday and Tuesday night! This will damage new growth, buds, flowers, and tender plants. Rain on Sunday night will help act as an insulator, but you will still want to cover sensitive plants using frost cloths, old sheets, or blankets, or bring them inside if possible. This is needed primarily for plants with buds you want to preserve, cold-sensitive plants, or new growth you wish to save. Shrubs and trees producing new growth will be fine, but their new growth may not survive.

Remember, if in doubt, feel free to cover it. Ask us any questions below!

It's a beautiful morning at the nursery and we are open until 5pm today, and Saturday from 8am-4pm! Have fun plant shopping and enjoying nature this weekend at your local nursery. 😊🌸🌲🌼🌿

The official first day of spring is only 7 days away; we are loving the early spring flowers here at the nursery! 🌸 What is blooming in your garden? 🌼

📸Fruit trees are blooming as well as 'Okame' Cherry trees!

Not just lucky!;☘️easy to care for and beautiful inside your home!

Shamrock plants love bright, indirect light indoors- low light tends to make them leggy. Their leaves gently fold up at night, which adds a fun, interactive touch! Rotate them every few weeks to encourage even growth on all sides. Water them sparingly- they do not like to be overwatered. If the soil is dry one or two inches down, it is time to water (usually approx. once every week or two). Once our threat of frost has passed, you can place your Shamrock plant outside for the warm months and bring them back indoors in fall (but you don't have to- it can stay indoors year-round!).

Just in time for St.Patricks Day- spread the luck by gifting this plant to a friend, teacher, or co-worker! ☘️

🚨Frost alert later this weekend into early next week!

We have several sizes of frost cloth- it is the same reusable product we use here at the nursery during this time of the year with fluctuating temps.

Keep an eye on the lows the next several weeks. You'll want to cover or bring inside any spring annuals, warm-weather veggies/ herbs, any plants that are budding or have young growth that you want to save (shrubs/trees putting out new growth will be fine but their new growth may not survive), and fruit trees/plants that are budding. Ask us any questions below!

Tradescantia is a tropical plant that is grown for its gorgeous foliage. An easy-to-grow houseplant, it is perfect for beginners!

It thrives in bright, indirect light indoors, grows at a medium-fast rate, and will trail out of its hanging pot beautifully. It prefers slightly moist soil.
